Rebecca J. White
My professional experience as an electronics technician has profoundly influenced the visual metaphors in my work. My contemporary painting exhibitions often feature imagery of electronic circuitry, reflecting the interconnected nature of systems and exploring how physical and perceived connections shape shared culture, traditions, and technologies.
I have received formal training in MFA studies at the Tokyo University of the Arts 東京藝術大学院 (2004-2005), where I studied oil painting under Professor Koji Kinutani. Living in Kyoto from 2000-2004 and Nagasaki, Japan from 2019-2022 introduced me to the aesthetic and philosophies of Japanese art influences, which continue to guide my compositions and subject matter. Additionally, my experiences while working in Gaeta, Italy from 2005-2007 and in Naples, Italy from 2017-2019 have also informed my palette and themes. My artistic journey is deeply connected to the insights gained from both Japanese and Italian influences, shaping the narrative of my work as Rebecca J. White.
